Social worker – Family and friends Support team – Fostering
HCL Workforce Solutions is looking to recruit a locum Social worker to work in a Family and Friends team for our master vend client, a children’s trust in the Birmingham area of the West Midlands.
About the role
The family and friends support team works with connected persons foster carers who are approved at panel and require a fostering supervising social worker under the fostering regulations and national minimum standards.
The connected persons foster carers access:
- 6 weekly supervisions
- Annual foster home review
- Unannounced home visits twice per year
- Attendance at training and support groups for connected carers.
- Support to complete the training standards.
- Undertaking risk assessments.
The role requires some fostering support experience and an understanding of the fostering regulations and experience of attending fostering panels.
The role also includes supporting connected persons foster carers to apply for permanence via a special guardianship order. The assessments are completed by the fostering supervising social worker and the original Form C report is updated for court purposes. The role requires some court work experience.
Once an SGO is granted the team provides 6 months post order support via monthly visits, attendance at CIN meetings and a support group run by the team called ‘family ties’
We have been working with this council for over five years as a master vendor, and have placed hundreds of social work professionals there.
It is an exciting time to join the team in Birmingham – since they relaunched as a Children’s Trust in April 2018, there has been significant progress in development across all of the children’s social care services they provide. The work our candidates carry out, building relationships and supporting some of the most disadvantaged young people in the city is vitally important – the focus on delivering great social work remains paramount.
What you will need for this role:
- You must have the right to work in the UK
- SWE registration
- Relevant social work qualification with at least 2 years post-qualifying experience
- Current DBS/DBS Update Service
- Access to a car and a full UK driving licence
- Fostering background
