Social Worker – Children in Care Team
Salary: From £27.53 to £32.33 per hour
Social worker / Senior Practitioner – CIC – Children in Care
HCL Workforce Solutions is looking to recruit a locum Social worker / Senior Practitioner to work in a CIC team for our master vend client, a children’s trust in the Birmingham area of the West Midlands.
About the role
The Trust’s Children in Care services are spread across three areas in Birmingham, North West Central, South and East. Each of the areas has an allocation of up to 550 children. Each area has six CIC teams made up of experience social work staff. They work with children ranging from 0 to 18 years of age – some of whom are vulnerable and have complex, challenging needs.
The teams have strong links and work collaboratively with the Looked After Children, Education, Adoption and Fostering, Therapeutic, Leaving Care, Disability, Special Educational Needs, Young Adult, Mental Health, and external placement provider services.
The team works closely with a range of partners including the Health Service, Schools Service and our own Independent Reviewing Service to ensure the voices of children and young people are always central to our practice. The team also works closely with the courts where children are subject to care proceedings. This involves working closely with cafcass, legal services and other partner agencies.
We have been working with this council for over five years as a master vendor, and have placed hundreds of social work professionals there.
It is an exciting time to join the team in Birmingham – since they relaunched as a Children’s Trust in April 2018, there has been significant progress in development across all of the children’s social care services they provide. The work our candidates carry out, building relationships and supporting some of the most disadvantaged young people in the city is vitally important – the focus on delivering great social work remains paramount.

- SWE registration
